The watch has recently been fully serviced. All original parts are included in the sale.
A new Swiss Quartz ETA movement and battery has been installed to ensure continued reliability. The mineral crystal has been upgraded to sapphire for increased scratch resistance.
All gaskets and seals have been replaced and the case pressure tested for water resistance. This is a vintage watch and the case, case back, bezel insert and bracelet are in very good condition, but have some scratches and marks commensurate with age. The original anodised red aluminium bezel insert is present and the bezel action is good. The original red sunburst dial is stunning, playing with the light, changing from burgundy through to candy apple red. The watch has a wonderful vintage feel and the tritium markers have begun to take on a creamy patina. The watch has the original signed Tag Heuer crown and case back with correct model reference number. The bracelet has all links included. The Swiss quartz (ETA) movement runs and keeps time. The date wheel turns over as it should. A replacement bezel insert is included in the sale. Also included is a period correct Tag Heuer box with watch cushion and outer cardboard box. All in great condition and becoming increasingly hard to find.
Ive tried to be as accurate with my description as I can. These pieces are very rare and highly sought after by Tag Heuer collectors.
It took me several years to find one in this condition. I recently listed another example with water damage to the dial and was astonished to see that it received over 1600 views and 140 watchers within five days! Please be advised that if youre on the look out for this specific model, there are a number or recently produced fakes in circulation. Theyre quite easy to tell apart once youve gotten hands on with a genuine 980.913N, but I known of one experienced watch enthusiast who was caught out! The fakes are generally in immaculate condition given theyre recently produced. They often have a solid red dial, rather than the sunburst effect dial that can be seen here. Also, their case backs seem to be stamped with the wrong reference number and engraved with Swiss Watch rather than Swiss Made as can be seen here. I have a small collection of dive watches and try to operate a strict rule of one in, one out. With another luxury watch now on the way, unfortunately this one has to go.
