Rare 1890's Labrador (Omega) 15J Swiss Hunter Gold Filled Case Serviced
Rare 1890's Labrador (Omega) 15J Swiss Hunter Gold Filled Case Serviced! This watch will look better in your hand than it does in the pics. Some quick online research will confirm that Labrador watches were the premier mark of the Brandt Bros. Before they refined their brands down to the'Omega' mark and I believe this rare hunter model dates to around 1890. I believe the clean, gilt movement is a 15 jewel and features a beautiful swans neck micrometric regulator. It is signed'Labrador' Reg'd Mark and Swiss. The watch winds, sets [stem wind/stem set], runs strong and is keeping good time, as it has been recently serviced. It is cased in a high quality Swiss'20 year warranted' gold filled case with minor surface scratches and some wear to the lid hinge [still functioning and closing, but a bit sloppy from use] and some plate wear through to the perimeter edges. It is a triple hinged, double backed case and diameter is approx.
The front and back look very similar in the pics, as there are no markings on the case. The unsigned, single sunk porcelain dial has a sub second hand at 6 o'clock, Arabic numeral indices and a couple of hairline cracks, but is still quite attractive. The hands look good and original. The crystal is acrylic and looks really good as well.
Overall, this is a very clean example of a truly rare and very collectable and reliable timepiece. It'd make a fine addition to any collection and a great piece to wear on special occasions.... You won't be disappointed!
