Rare vintage Swiss Fortis Spaceman Audacieuse automatic tank watch, new crystal

A very rare 70's vintage Swiss Fortis Spaceman Audacieuse, automatic movement wrist watch in near mint condition. Designed by Andre le Marquand, (commissioned by Claude Lebet and Francis Bourquin, of Catena Bulle Switzerland), it was an homage to the 1969 space launch. The first Spaceman watch was the oval one in 1972.

This model, called the Audacieuse series was a rectangular series of watches and was launched in 1974. Square models with metal bracelets are hard to find. The Audacieuse design was manufactured by a few brands, this one is by Fortis. Replicas exist, this example is guaranteed authentic.

Designer: architect Andre le Marquand. Case: chromed, black painted caseback. Bracelet: original stainless steel link, signed deployant clasp. Dial; brown, date window at 6-o-clock.
