Rare vintage swiss Uno monnin 844 200m military divers watch bakelite bezel
For sale stunning vintage 1980's Uno quartz 200m divers watch. I have only seen one other example of this watch.
I bought this from a well known military watch collector a number of years ago. The watch has an all steel Monnin 844 case in excellent used condition. It has crown guards with screw down crown that works perfectly. The tritium black dial is in superb condition.
It has no staining and is perfectly preserved. It still glows as it should in the dark and has the original hands with perfect tritium in fill. At the base of the dial it states "Swiss made".It has fully functioning date window at 3 o'clock which is quick set. It has the original bi directional bakelite bezel with a wonderful patina.
This watch has obviously been used as a divers watch and shows some wear in the 12 o'clock region. However, the patina makes the watch more desirable, as it shows it was used as intended and hasn't been messed about with or restored.
The bezel is quite stiff to turn but as that's how it has always been I have decided to leave as is. The screw down case back, which again is in excellent condition has the numbers 844 - 19372. It also states "Etanche - Acier - 20 Atmos". The inside of the case back states Brevet 503306 - MRP.It has the original mineral crystal with some scratches but nothing too serious. It keeps excellent time using it's original swiss made ETA 9362 7 jewel quartz movement. It is 45mm in diameter including crown and 42mm without. It is 46.5mm lug to lug and lug spacing is 20mm.
This is a really beautiful early 80's monnin diver with ultra sought after bakelite bezel. This is made to the exact same specifications (except for fixed bars) and has exactly the same look. It is also likely that it was made for military purposes - although I have no proof of this other than what I have been told by the previous owner who bought it from the MOD.
